Northeast Towson Improvement Association reached out to NeighborSpace in 2007 to turn the vacant lot at 438 E Pennsylvania into a community park. NeighborSpace acquired the property, and since then the two organizations have worked together to restore the lot into what is now Adelaide Bentley Park, named for the late NeTIA President and community champion. The park is home to a wide variety of native plants and features a trail, small podium, benches and two raised beds.

For this project, a roughly 30×60 ft section of the park that overgrown with invasives was cleared, and a small edible forest along the trail installed. The forest consists of native trees and shrubs with edible fruits and nuts, as well as some native flowering perennials to attract pollinators and provide visual interest. NeighborSpace staff will conduct at least one workshop to share information on the benefits and uses of the plants installed. Invasive removal was performed by a contractor; planting was done by volunteers under leadership of NeighborSpace staff.

Towson Communities Alliance is proud to have financially assisted this project with funds from its Open Space Grant account.
